What will I wear?

 In updates

To help with those knotty packing decisions for your weekend away, may we offer a few considerations when planning what to wear and take for “An Adventure”.

Weather

Spring weather in Europe is typically fine but can vary from hot and sunny days to cool evenings and occasional rain.

Luggage and getting ready

Space on the train is very limited, so each guest is please advised to bring only one small overnight bag and one suit/dress bag for the train; all other baggage will be sent directly to Venice. If you are arriving in Paris on the day of the event and would like to freshen up and change before checking into the party we have two suites available at the Ritz. No shower is available on the train (it really is an old train); upon arrival in Venice we have a 1½-hour transfer to the hotel and then about two hours to get ready for the black-tie masquerade ball.

Ritz Paris and Venice Simplon Orient Express

The Ritz and the train are a glamorous 1920s-themed evening. Guests are encouraged to be as daring or demur as they see fit for this “Great Gatsby” escapade.

Suggestions for the ladies:

Think sequins, pearls, flapper dresses, feathers and fun. Check out our Pinterest page for more inspiration.

Suggestions for gentlemen:

Think dapper, daring and suave. Don’t want to wear your tux two nights in a row? Drop by our Pinterest page for men for some options.

The Black Tie Masquerade

Once we arrive in Venice there will be only a couple of hours to get ready for the ball. Formal evening wear (black tie) is suggested. Elegant half-masks will be available for all guests. If you would like to be more creative with your attire for the evening, let us know as we can suggest several ateliers that provide Venetian period wear.
